An Announcement

April 1st, 2009

Well, Jess and I have been together for a little over 3 months now and it has been the most fantastic 3 months of our lives.  We are loving each other so much that we now think it’s important to share the love with a new member of the family.  We have decided to start the adoption process.  The whole Kindle thing is really just the first in a number of steps to clear out our second bedroom to make way for the little guy (or gal).  I have spoken with my company and they have agreed to allow me to work from home for a while while the child settles in and Jess is beginning to look at different crochet patterns to dress the baby and we are looking into a lot of different ideas for home-made baby foods, so if you have any ideas please let us know.  Jess is determined to raise the baby Catholic, so in an attempt to fit in with the rest of the family, I will begin RCIA classes in June.
Jess and I have signed on with the AFD Malawi Adoption Agency (the same agency that Madonna uses, apparently) and have already had our first interview.  Because of the plans we have discussed above, they consider us a super, wholesome family and have moved to the top of the list and we should have news about our child in the next several weeks.  Please keep us in your thoughts as we look forward to this next step in our married lives.

November Update

November 16th, 2008

November… already?

Okay, is it just me or is time going at warp speed this fall?

I think I’d rather it go quickly than to crawl by. December is only a few weeks away and I CAN’T WAIT!!!

For those of you who don’t know, the wedding will be on my birthday. I’ve had a lot of people ask me how I felt about it and to tell you the truth, I really do like the idea. We joke around that Matt now is really sunk if he forgets our anniversary and that he can’t just get me one gift. In all honesty, I think that its just about perfect. Winter is such a beautiful time of the year… and what better gift is there? I know that its mushy to say, but Matt is one of the best things that has ever happened to me and I can’t wait to be married to him.

On to less gushy topics… wedding plans are now starting to go in to full swing. We’ve gotten most all of the purchases taken care of and those that are left, we’re going to be able to swing just fine.

I had my first dress alteration appointment this morning.

The lady who did my fitting was very professional and helpful (which eased my mind!) and I’m hoping that the dress turns beautifully. I’ve had a running joke with Matt, since he hasn’t seen it yet, that it is covered in orange and purple feathers with neon green embroidery.

We’ve started to do work on the program for the ceremony and I’m starting to do the thank you notes. A lot of the little things are getting done behind the scenes.

So yeah, we’re pretty much on track.

I’ll be away in Denver, CO this coming week for work, and will hopefully have a little bit of time in the evenings to do some checklists and keep organized.
